Molasses Cookies
These molasses cookies are deliciously spicy and chewy. They store well and can be frozen making them great for holiday gift-giving or shipping.
In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup sugar, margarine, and egg; whisk in molasses.
In a separate medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, cloves, and ginger; add to the molasses mixture and stir until well combined.
For one hour, wrap and chill the dough.
Set the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees C).
Roll the dough into 1-inch-diameter balls while the oven is preheating.
After coating each ball in the remaining 1/2 cup of white sugar, place the balls on cookie sheets 2 inches apart.
