Set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees C).

A fluted tube pan, such as a Bundt®, should have both the bottom and the sides generously greased.

With an electric mixer, combine sugar and butter in a bowl until fluffy.

Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Add poppy seeds, lemon zest, and vanilla extract after slowing down the mixer.

In a different bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder.

Buttermilk and the flour mixture should be added gradually.

Batter is poured into the prepared pan.

65 to 75 minutes of baking time in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
