DSF’s Pretzel Bread
Pretzel bread in small loaves gets the traditional bath in boiling water with baking soda before baking for the shiny brown crust you want.
Warm water, 1 tablespoon of honey, and yeast are mixed together to dissolve the sugar and yeast.
Allow to stand for 10 minutes or until a foamy layer forms on the water.
Add salt and 3 tablespoons of melted butter to the yeast mixture.
Mix one cup of flour with the wet ingredients until a wet, gloppy dough forms.
Then, for about 10 more minutes, gradually knead in the remaining 1 cup of flour, turning the dough out onto a floured work surface.
If the dough is too wet, add more flour.
Create a dough ball.
