Apple Squares
These delectable apple bars are baked until golden brown, sprinkled with a sweet cinnamon and sugar topping, and studded with walnuts and fresh apple chunks.
Set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees C).
Butter a 9-inch square baking dish.
In a medium bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon.
In a small bowl, combine the remaining 2 teaspoons of cinnamon with the 2 tablespoons of white sugar.
With a wooden spoon, combine melted butter, 1/2 cup white sugar, and brown sugar in a big bowl and stir until well combined.
Add egg and vanilla and stir.
Stir in apple and walnuts after briefly blending in flour mixture.
Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top after spreading the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
